Dr. Kimberly D. Townsend is an accomplished educator, school leader, and founder of The Leadership School in St. Louis County, Missouri. With more than 20 years of experience in education, she has served as a teacher, instructional coach, and school leader in both public and private schools. Driven by a belief that every child deserves access to an excellent education and that families should have meaningful choices for their children, Dr. Townsend founded The Leadership School to create a new model of public education centered on student voice, belonging, academic rigor, and leadership development.
Dr. Townsend’s approach to education is deeply rooted in listening to families and empowering students to take ownership of their learning. The Leadership School’s mission is to develop students’ leadership capacity through an academically rigorous, culturally relevant, and relationship-oriented environment. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies, a Master of Arts in Multidisciplinary Studies, and a Doctor of Education in K–12 Educational Leadership and Policy.
