Priscilla Aquino Garza, Ph.D., is Senior Director of Programs at Educate Texas, where she leads efforts focused on developing highly skilled teachers and leaders who reflect and serve African American, Latino, and economically disadvantaged students. Previously, she served as Director of Policy at Educate Texas for more than eight years, focusing on K–12 policy in college and career readiness and effective teaching.

Earlier in her career, Priscilla served as Interim Executive Director and Deputy Director of Stand for Children Texas and as Director of a strategic initiative at the Texas Education Agency focused on teacher preparation, development, evaluation, mentoring, and selection. She began her career as a middle school teacher in Boston, New York, and Austin.

Priscilla holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Harvard University, a Master of Public Administration from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin, and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, Policy, and Planning from the University of Texas at Austin. She has also received a Graduate School Diversity Mentoring Fellowship and a Texas New Scholar Award.
